School Holidays are approaching!

2013-07-12 10.00.38Well BrassWindFix can’t quite believe where the first few months of 2015 have gone! Looking through the diary it’s only a matter of weeks and the schools will be breaking up for summer holidays and we have a full diary with lots of instrument repairs booked in.

BrassWindFix run a diary system for servicing work and we are now taking appointments for mid July to service brass and woodwind instruments. If you plan on going away in July/August then it would be an ideal time to book your woodwind or brass instrument in for a little tlc with BrassWindFix!

Please try not to leave making your appointment until the last minute as we can’t promise we will have any appointments for the time/dates that you require – as we are now booking appointments in the diary some two months ahead – give us a call as soon as you can to book your instrument in the diary for an instrument service!

Emergency woodwind or brass repair needed? Don’t panic – give Justin a call on our new workshop number 01934 861226 and explain the situation and what the problem is – we always endeavour to deal with emergency repairs as soon as possible. Depending on the work needed, we will either be able to repair it straight away or book it in on one of our emergency diary dates!

Emergency Repair at BrassWindFix

The BrassWindFix workshop runs a diary system for all woodwind and brass instruments that need servicing or repair.  If you need a service or repair to your woodwind or brass instrument then it’s a really good idea to secure a date in the diary.  This means that any and all work required to your instrument can be carried out when it’s convenient to you – it also means we don’t have the instrument any longer than we need to and you are not without the instrument longer than necessary!

However, life doesn’t always run to plan and there may be occasions when an emergency instrument repair is needed due to life’s little mishaps.

Take today’s example:  a parent telephoned first thing in the morning in a complete panic.  Her daughter’s Grade VIII Trombone examination was in seven days and her son had accidentally fallen on the instrument this morning.  The trombone slide had bent and would not move and the instrument was unplayable in that condition.  The daughter was completely unaware of the damage and due home later in the day to practice so it was go, go, go to put it back together again!

The trombone was brought into the BrassWindFix workshop and Justin was able to perform an emergency repair and fix the slide.  After a short time the instrument was back to normal and the damage virtually undetectable!  The daughter would never know and the son could breathe a sigh of relief!

So for all woodwind and brass instrument servicing and repair – contact Justin at BrassWindFix to book your instrument into the diary.  For any emergencies and last minute crisis then please call us.  If we can get the instrument into a playable condition and have it back another time for full repair/service then we’ll certainly do our best to help!

Exam Fever

It’s February half-term! Time for most schools and colleges to relax and recharge for a week both students and teachers.  Justin Pavey at BrassWindFix is an experienced, reliable and specialist woodwind and brass instrument repairer.  Due to the high quality of his work the BrassWindFix workshop is often booked up some weeks in advance and we can’t always guarantee that there will be availability in the diary for an emergency repair/service – but half term is imminent and the calls from frantic parents who have children approaching exams will be calling to book instruments in for repair.

Exams are coming soon and you need your instrument to be in the best possible condition to help you perform at your best and get the results you want!  Here are a few ways to check your instrument is exam ready too!

Check your instrument over – are any valves or keys sticking? examinations
Do any of the pads need replacing?
Anything rattling on the instrument?
When was the last time you had it serviced
Is your instrument in need of repair?
Is the instrument in tip top condition?

If any of the above problems apply to your instrument then please don’t leave it to the last minute to get them fixed!

So check your instrument during the holidays, make sure it’s all working as it should.  If not, contact BrassWindFix and make an appointment to sort any problems out early – it will still give you time to practise on your new super-improved instrument so you too are super-primed, practised and ready for those all important examinations and grades.
