Examinations

fingers-crossedIt’s that time of year when lots of nail biting takes place as students across the nation prepare to sit their examinations.

Whatever exams are coming up BrassWindFix would like to wish everyone the very best of luck!

Don’t worry if you don’t get the results you need though. Tomas Eddison, Bill Gates, Benjamin Franklin, Albert Einstein, Walt Disney and Richard Branson didn’t all get the results they wanted either – many dropped out of school at 10, only spent 3 months in formal education, didn’t get the expected results or simply left before the examinations.  They all turned out ok! Don’t believe us?  Check out this blog!

If you have music examinations coming up then prepare your instrument in advance.  Make sure everything is working, the pads are seated, there’s no jelly-babies stuck down the pipes (you’d be surprised just how many we rescue from instruments), everything that should be lubricated is etc and store it in a quality case away from knocks and bangs!

We’ve had a few instruments come in recently where they’ve needed an emergency repair as they’ve been stepped on, fallen on, dropped downstairs,  dropped out of the case, or knocked over when on a stand by a handbag!  Accidents happen but there’s always someone on hand to help at BrassWindFix.

Emergency Repair at BrassWindFix

The BrassWindFix workshop runs a diary system for all woodwind and brass instruments that need servicing or repair.  If you need a service or repair to your woodwind or brass instrument then it’s a really good idea to secure a date in the diary.  This means that any and all work required to your instrument can be carried out when it’s convenient to you – it also means we don’t have the instrument any longer than we need to and you are not without the instrument longer than necessary!

However, life doesn’t always run to plan and there may be occasions when an emergency instrument repair is needed due to life’s little mishaps.

Take today’s example:  a parent telephoned first thing in the morning in a complete panic.  Her daughter’s Grade VIII Trombone examination was in seven days and her son had accidentally fallen on the instrument this morning.  The trombone slide had bent and would not move and the instrument was unplayable in that condition.  The daughter was completely unaware of the damage and due home later in the day to practice so it was go, go, go to put it back together again!

The trombone was brought into the BrassWindFix workshop and Justin was able to perform an emergency repair and fix the slide.  After a short time the instrument was back to normal and the damage virtually undetectable!  The daughter would never know and the son could breathe a sigh of relief!

So for all woodwind and brass instrument servicing and repair – contact Justin at BrassWindFix to book your instrument into the diary.  For any emergencies and last minute crisis then please call us.  If we can get the instrument into a playable condition and have it back another time for full repair/service then we’ll certainly do our best to help!
